Give books a second life - welcome to the book swap!
As an environmental education portal Edu4Eco.pl, we believe that every thing deserves a second chance. That is why, together with the Waste Management Plant in Poznań, we are organising a unique event: Book Exchange Action, which will take place on Saturday, 5 July, between 12:00 and 15:00 at Wolności Square in Poznań.
Do you have books you won't be returning to? Don't let them get dusty - bring them to Freedom Square and swap them for others! This is a great opportunity to refresh your home library and care for the environment at the same time. The Action's partners are: Raczynski Library and Clothes to Donate.
What awaits you?
Books from the "Second Life of Things" points of the Poznan Gratuities, as well as from the resources of our partner Raczynski Library, which has donated its doubles, will be waiting on site. Each participant can take as many books as he or she brings along - free of charge, with a view to sharing and responsible consumption.
We accept books in Polish that are in good condition - that is, clean, dry and without serious damage. Please do not bring multi-volume encyclopaedias, dictionaries or school books.

Let's take care of the planet together - in small steps, but with great meaning!
The Raczynski Library, which has been involved in the development of reading for many years, enthusiastically joined the event.
- As an institution that promotes reading, the Raczynski Library wholeheartedly supports the Book Exchange Action. All the more so when it takes place next door on Wolności Square. We were also happy to enrich the book swap collection with our doubles - let our books go to the people of Poznan and make readers happy! - emphasises the library representative.
Where will the other books go?
Books that do not find new owners will be handed over to an Action partner, the brand Clothes to Donateowned by New Solutions Group.
Monika Maceluch, Marketing Director Clothes to Donate, he stresses:
"At Clothes to Donate, we believe that every thing - not just clothes - deserves a second chance. That is why we are happy to support the Book Swap Campaign, which aims to give new life to publications that often end up... in the trash. Meanwhile, a book is not waste, but a carrier of history, knowledge and emotions that can serve future generations. Ever since we made it possible for our donors to donate not only textiles but also books, hundreds of kilograms of books - too valuable to waste - have been arriving at our sorting plant every month. Therefore, instead of disposing of them, we put them into second circulation by donating them to a cooperating online antiquarian bookshop. This is not only an ecological action, but also a cultural one. What is more, thanks to this, each book can continue to live - generating not only knowledge or delight, but also real profit, which feeds a closed loop economy. That is why the joint action with Edu4Eco.pl and the Raczynski Library is more than just an exchange - it is a concrete step towards a responsible consumption, closed loop economy and everyday, small decisions that make a real difference to the environment. We are happy to be part of this change."
