Climate book at the Green Library

We hear about climate change at almost every turn, but what does it really mean? This time in our Green Library, the topic is global warming. If we are to prevent it, we need to know not only how, but also why we should do so.

We hear about climate change at almost every turn, but what does it really mean? This time in our Green Library, the topic is global warming. If we are to prevent it, we need to know not only how, but also why we should do so.

The next item in our book series is "Climate Warming What is Climate Change on Earth?". by Kristina Scharmacher- Schreiber and Stephanie Marian. This book addresses the topics of climate change on Earth in a comprehensive, simple and yet interesting way.

Among other things, we can learn from it the difference between weather and climate, why we have different seasons, how climate change can be read from tree rings, what the greenhouse effect is, how industrial development has affected our planet, how melting glaciers or rising sea and ocean levels affect human life, animals and the Earth.

The book also presents interesting facts, for example:

  • what carbon footprint is left by different vehicles,
  • what route our clothes have to take before they end up in our wardrobes,
  • how much the statistical Pole eats of eggs, meat or milk per year.

It also answers important questions such as: would it be better for the climate if we ate only fruit and vegetables?

This publication is dedicated to children aged 8 and over. It is nicely illustrated, touches on many important topics and can probably be an attractive and valuable prize in, for example, school science competitions. I would also recommend it to people who still do not believe in global warming.

Towards the end of the book we can read something that I think is a good summary of the position: "Because everyone contributes to global warming, but also everyone can contribute to reducing it."
