Now think about it - why don't you do the same when you don't know how to properly separate your rubbish or check what's really in your cream? Fortunately, there are eco-friendly apps you can have on your phone. Everything at your fingertips - just a click away!

We live in the age of smartphones - it's a fact. We use them to upload photos to social networks, check in with friends and soak up news from the web. It's time to go one step further. Your phone can become a tool for something bigger - taking care of the planet. Environmental education has never been so simple. All you have to do is want to and click.

Where to start? Here are some eco-apps that are worth having on your phone

Did you know that.

as much as 4.8 million tonnes of food are wasted in Poland every year? This is hard to imagine - the equivalent of as many as 12 billion plates full of food, if each meal weighs around 400 grams.

Can you have an impact on this? Of course you can. Two apps come to your aid:

  • Too Good To Go;
  • Foodsi.

Both Too Good To Go and Foodsi allow you to rescue unsold food from restaurants, bakeries or shops by offering it at a lower price. By using these apps, you are not only helping to reduce food waste, but you are also saving money and doing something good for the planet.

Want to shop for clothes more consciously? The answer is the app Good On You, which allows you to check how your favourite fashion brands compare. The app rates them on their environmental impact, ethics and respect for workers' rights. A brief description of each brand tells you whether it uses environmentally friendly solutions, uses substitutes for zoonotic products and whether it provides a list of its suppliers. The ratings are based on publicly available data, certifications and accreditations as well as independent analyses by NGOs.

Segregating waste is a challenge? The app comes to the rescuea Where to dump? - the ideal advisor for daily segregation. It is worth knowing, however, that the rules contained herein are based on the guidelines of the City Hall in Warsaw and may differ slightly from those in force in other municipalities. This is not the only option! Another interesting alternative is the app Sorteuswhere you will find, among other things, a convenient search by barcode, making it easy to match your waste to the correct container

Do you sometimes wonder if it is possible to have a tasty meal without meat? You would like to try vegetarian or vegan cuisine, but you don't know where to go With help comes the app Happy Cow. It makes it easy to find restaurants serving plant-based dishes - both in your local area and while travelling. The app is active in more than 185 countries worldwide. Its community actively rates establishments and shares photos of dishes, making it easy to choose a place for a meat-free lunch or dinner.

Smog warning at your fingertips? It's possible with the app Canary. It allows you to check the current level of air pollution where you happen to be. A quick glance at your phone screen will tell you whether it's a good idea to go out for a walk or whether it's better to stay indoors and close the windows.
