The plastic-free challenge: 7 days to a greener life
Plastic has become an integral part of our lives, but its impact on the planet is enormous. The responsibility to reduce it lies with each of us.
Plastic has become an integral part of our lives, but its impact on the planet is enormous. The responsibility to reduce it lies with each of us.
Instead of waiting for global change, start with yourself - take the 7-day plastic-free challenge.

Day 1: Say NO to plastic bottles
Every year, more than 500 billion plastic bottles are produced worldwide, which end up in the waste bin after only a few minutes of use. In addition, only 9% of plastic worldwide is recycled. That's why it makes sense to swap disposable PET bottles for reusable ones. Choose bottles made of durable material (steel, glass or tritanium). You can fill your bottle with tap water, filter it in a special jug or buy a bottle with a filter. Keep it with you at all times - at school, at work or on your walks.
Day 2: Reusable bags? Only reusable ones
Shopping is an activity we do almost every day, so it is worth getting a reusable bag to accompany us. Not only is this an environmentally friendly solution, it is also economical. Instead of spending money on disposable shopping bags every day, it is worth investing in a quality, fabric bag that will stay with us for years.
Day 3: Your kitchen, your rules!
The kitchen is one of the places where plastic is most abundant. It's time to change that! Instead of using plastic containers, choose glass jars and stainless steel containers. They are not only durable but also safe for food. Replace disposable bags for fruit and vegetables with reusable mesh bags. You can replace clingfilm with wax cups or silicone lids that mould to the shape of the dish.
Day 4-5: Simple changes to your bathroom
Your bathroom can also be plastic-free. Instead of shower gel, shampoo or conditioner in a plastic bottle, use products in a bar. For brushing your teeth, choose a bamboo toothbrush with natural bristles. These are simple changes that make a big difference.
Day 6-7: Conscious choices for everyday life
Before you buy something - think about whether you really need it. Every purchase has an impact not only on our wallet, but also on the environment. The production of new things consumes huge amounts of raw materials, energy and also plastic. Buy second-hand, don't throw away - repair, donate or swap. Give things a second life.
