Sometimes it's good to relax and get away from everyday life. To just be and enjoy what's around us. And what is the best option for relaxation, especially in summer? Nature, of course. The greenery surrounding us, the golden sand under our feet and a body of clear water. Fortunately, there is no shortage of such places in our country.

There are places in Poland where the water is simply stunning in its clarity. We are talking about lakes that you will be happy to jump into.

Lakes in Poland worth exploring:

  • Lake Powidzkie is described as one of the cleanest lakes in Poland. It is located halfway between Gniezno and Konin. Therefore, dear Wielkopolanie, it is high time to go there! Interestingly, it is a postglacial lake, so its maximum depth is about 46 metres.
  • Lubie Lake is located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. There, you can easily see the bottom of the lake under your feet. An additional attraction of this place is that there are five islands on the reservoir: Ptaszyniec, Kamieniec, Rybaki, Sołtysie and Wyspa Bezimienna. More than one sailor or canoeist will marvel at them.
  • Kłodno Lake is a place where the beautiful views are breathtaking. It is located in the Pomorskie Voivodeship. The water in this reservoir has the first class purity and is surrounded by the Kashubian Landscape Park.
  • Lake Białe is located near the border with Belarus and Ukraine, i.e. in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. The reservoir heats up quickly in summer. Bathing here is exceptionally pleasant - who doesn't like to take a dip in warm, clear and clean water?
  • Lake Gim will also impress us with its water purity. It is located in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship. Interestingly, it has a quiet zone, which means you won't meet motor boats there.

When you visit any of these places, you will find that Poland has no shortage of lakes that you can enter without any worries, enjoying the clear water. These are just examples of bodies of water that are really worth visiting. During the summer, you should make a list like this for your area and try to visit as many of them as possible.

How to check the purity of the lake water?

To check the purity of the water in your chosen lakes, you can use one of several sources of information.

  • Regional environmental inspectorates (RIOS) - these institutions monitor water quality in lakes and other bodies of water. You can visit their websites or contact them directly for up-to-date water status reports.
  • Provincial sanitary and epidemiological stations - they too carry out water quality tests, especially with regard to water safety for bathing areas. Their reports are often available online.
  • Local news portals and apps - many local news sites and tourist portals publish up-to-date information on water quality in local lakes, especially during the summer season. This can be a quicker way than searching for information on RIOS or provincial sanitary and epidemiological stations' websites. It is also worth testing some apps that provide such information.

Putting together your own list of lakes with clean water in your area can also be an interesting idea to get to know your local natural resources better and enjoy the summer without worrying about water quality.
